An April Fool’s baby of a first freshener. No one purchased him and he was too little, being an April kid, to go to the sale barn with the rest of the buck kids. Then that fall, we disbursed our Proverbial Caprines herd but we didn’t want to send our herd sires to the sale barn so we kept them and then kept this guy to keep them company. He ran pretty much wild for three years until Robin had the bright idea to take them to a buck show. He showed better than our purchased bucks, stood 2nd to the champion actually. Our former herd sires both passed away but this guy just made friends with the cow and they roamed all over the pasture. By then, we knew goats were essential to happiness and we decided to rebuild the herd as Bonne Femme. Our dearest hope was to get some daughters from him. In the meantime, we took him to a few shows and, with Tim and Ben Sims help (Sanjaya was just as strong as he was headstrong) earned his permanent champion status from both AGS and ADGA (7 CH legs). The judges either loved him or didn’t like him at all. He never won a reserve.

He was linear appraised at 9 years old. Certainly he was not in his prime, but he earned a final score of 89 VEE, still excellent in General Appearance and Dairy Strength.

We did get those daughters. Audacious has a dry leg and Wish has a reserve leg. With another sister, they won a first place junior get of sire for Sanjaya at the 2019 District 5 Nubian Specialty under Dan Laney.
